Every time I visit Old Sacramento it feels like I’ve stepped back into the California Gold Rush. The buildings have been beautifully restored, the shops maintain the quirky personalities they’ve had for ages, and even the people seem a little bit salty (though not quite as salty as the original gold miners were, I’m sure). It was a blisteringly hot August day, so the shade afforded by the covered walkways was much appreciated and created the most beautiful light.
I love the Streamline Moderne architectural style of the Tower Bridge, constructed in 1935 as the first vertical lift bridge in the California Highway System.
I have to note that we ended the afternoon at Starbucks. Typical.
